You won't be able to use the Link Essential until it is completely installed. If it isn't, you'll get the error message: "No Link Essential has been detected."
Check that the Link is plugged directly into a wall socket and that it lights up (steady or blinking). If you don't see a light, make sure the USB end of the wire is firmly pressed all the way into the port in the Link Essential.
To do this, remove the back cover:
- Make sure the Link Essential is within wifi range of your modem/router.
- Make sure the LED is flashing blue.
- If the LED is solid blue or not lit, then the Link Essential must be reset.
Resetting the Link Essential
1. Remove the cover on the Link Essential by twisting it to the left.
2. Press the reset button (to the right of the battery) for 4 seconds. Release the button as soon as the LED starts flashing red.
3. Replace the cover on the Link Essential by aligning the square of the cover with the opening, then turn the green part to the right.
After a few moments, the LED should flash blue.
Once you've completed these steps, try to connect again.
