How do I disable the battery optimization features, so smart activation works on my OnePlus phone?

OnePlus phones are one of the most restrictive in terms of battery optimization. 

An installed update can override a previous setting which allows an application to run in the background. 

Locking the Somfy Protect app in recent applications can prevent it from being shut down in the background, but it's not 100% guaranteed. 

 

• Solution 1 - Make sure the application keeps running in the background

1. Open the Somfy Protect app.
2. Go to your phone's recent applications (slide your finger up and hold it down to open recent applications).
3. Hold your finger down anywhere on the window and tap the Lock button in the upper right corner of the application. 
4. The locked application will have the lock icon.

 

• Solution 2 - Disable the battery optimization setting when using the Somfy Protect app

1. Go to System Settings.
2. Tap Applications.
3. Tap the Gear Icon.
4. Tap Special Access.
5. Select Battery Optimization.

Additionally:

1. Go to System Settings.
2. Tap Battery.
3. Tap Battery Optimization.
4. Activate "All Apps" in the top right menu.
5. Select the Somfy Protect app.
6. Select Don't Optimize.

NOTE: Some users have reported that Doze mode should be disabled in the developer options on OnePlus 3 and earlier versions. 

 

• Solution 3: Ensure that the Somfy Protect app is not in the list of applications that should not be running in the background (App Autostart)

• Solution 4 - Advanced customization of battery optimization

 

OnePlus 6 and later versions:

1. Go to System Settings.
2. Tap Battery.
3. Tap Battery Optimization.
4. Tap the 3 dot menu (⁝), then tap Advanced Optimization.

Two options are activated by default:

1. Optimization or battery management
   Disable this setting, so the Somfy Protect app runs in the background. 
2. Sleep Standby Optimization
    OnePlus attempts to learn when you're usually asleep and, at that time, will disable the phone's network connections. This setting prevents push notifications from being sent
   .

• Versions earlier than OnePlus 6:

1. Go to System Settings.
2. Tap Battery.
3. Tap Battery Optimization.
4. Tap the dot menu (⁝) and deactivate Enhanced Optimization.

 

• Solution 5: Allow the Somfy Protect app to run in the background when you switch to another application without closing it

You can switch from one application to another without closing the previous one. OnePlus can decide for you to close the one you're leaving by going to another one. 

1. Go to Settings/System.
2. Tap Recent App Management
3. Select Normal Clear.
