If you are an iPhone user, you can use Siri to control your Somfy Protect installation with voice commands. Here's how to do it.
1 / Check Compatibility
Before you start, if you are not familiar with Siri, consult the article: https://support.apple.com/en-us/guide/iphone/iph83aad8922/ios
Then make sure that:
- Your Somfy Protect installation is properly configured and functional.
- You are using an iPhone with a recent version of iOS.
- You have installed Apple's Shortcuts app, which allows you to automate actions with Siri.
2 / Adding Somfy Protect to Siri Shortcuts
Unlike Google Assistant or Alexa, Siri does not have a built-in Somfy Protect skill. You will therefore need to use the Somfy Protect app and Siri shortcuts to create voice commands.
Steps:
- Open the Somfy Protect app on your iPhone or iPad.
- Go to the Settings menu > My smart Home > Siri Shortcuts
- Select an action you want to automate, for example:
- "Activate the alarm"
- "Deactivate the alarm"
- "Activate night mode"
- "Control the gate"
- "Control the pedestrian gate"
- Record the default voice command, example: "Hey Siri, activate the alarm",
- Or customize the message by clicking on "change the voice command".
The shortcut is created; you can create multiple shortcuts for different actions according to your needs. To do this, repeat the previous operation. The shortcuts you can create are available depending on the equipment installed on your site.
3 / Using Siri to Control Somfy Protect
Once the shortcuts are set up, you can control your Somfy Protect alarm simply by saying the recorded phrases, for example:
-
-
- "Hey Siri, activate the alarm."
- "Hey Siri, deactivate the alarm."
- "Hey Siri, set night mode."
-
4 / Troubleshooting
If Siri does not recognize your commands:
✔️ Check that your device is connected to the Internet.
✔️ Make sure the Siri shortcuts are properly registered in the Somfy Protect app.
✔️ Test the commands in the Shortcuts app before trying with Siri
