To configure the motion detection of your Somfy Outdoor Camera 2, open the Somfy Protect app, then go to the menu and select "My Devices".
Next, select the camera for which you want to enable or disable motion detection. Finally, tap "Motion Detection." The settings screen allows you to adjust three levels.
A / Motion Detection Settings
1. Enable or Disable Motion Detection
The Somfy Outdoor Camera 2 is equipped with intelligent detection. It can differentiate between human movement and that of a vehicle, for example. You can choose the type of motion you want to detect from 4 different criteria:
- Persons,
- Vehicles,
- Animals,
- Other movements.
Activate the motion detections for which you want to trigger an alert.
2. Detection Sensitivity
Sensitivity allows you to configure the detection threshold. For example, with low sensitivity, only significant movements and well-defined objects will trigger an alert. To adjust the sensitivity, slide the cursor to the desired sensitivity level.
Note that this parameter is only accessible if one of the motion detections has been activated.
3. Detection Zone
You can exclude certain parts of the screen to focus the detection on your critical areas. By pressing on the rectangles, you will gray out the areas that will not trigger an alert. Conversely, those in clear view will account for detected movements and you will be notified.
Clarifications on "Other Movements"
The "Other movements" criterion refers to movements that are not categorized within the other three detection classes. This includes movements that escape the algorithm's analysis, often due to a lack of visibility or a restriction within the detection zone.
For example, if the camera only sees one shoulder of a person, while the rest of the body is in a grayed-out zone, the movement will still be detected. In this case, an alert will be triggered, and the event will be recorded as "other movement."
It is important to note that a detection zone that is too restrictive can limit movement analysis. If you notice that alerts for "other movements" frequently include elements from the other detection classes, we recommend redefining the grid of the detection zone to better capture movements.
B / Testing the Detection
The camera settings have been established, and you can now test your configuration. To do this, accept the test mode. Then, walk in front of the camera to detect your presence.
Did the detection occur?
- Yes, congratulations, your settings are successful.
- No, ensure you are passing through the active detection zone. If you are still not detected, your selection may be too restrictive. De-gray some points on the grid.
